4-10. Replace CDU
a.
Remove CDU.
(1) Power down the IPADS, paragraph 3-b, and ensure all power switches are off on BCU and CDU.
(2) Disconnect DC power cable W116 or AC power cable W6 from the BCU.
(3) Disconnect wiring harness W114 from the CDU connector J1 and install electrical covers.
(4) If connected, disconnect the FOS cable W143 from the CDU connector J2. Install electrical covers.
(5) If CDU is located on the CDU support arm, turn locking latches counter-clockwise to release CDU
from mounting bracket, figure 2-21, and remove.
(6) If the CDU is in the clamshell storage case on the IPADS frame, lift latches to release clamshells and
remove CDU.
(7) Place CDU into transit case for shipment to repair facility. Ensure that the CDU and the inside of the
container, including the cushioning, are dry prior to placing the CDU into the container.
b. Install CDU.
(1) Open clamshell latches on the IPADS frame and install the CDU.
(2) Secure latches by hooking clamp on clamshell latch and pulling down to tighten clamshell latch.
(3) Connect wiring harness W114 to CDU J1 connector.
(4) Connect DC power cable W116 or AC power cable W6 to the BCU.
(5) Remove CDU from clamshell storage case and install on CD support arm, paragraph 2-8j.
(6) Power up IPADS to ensure proper operation of the CDU, paragraph 3-6a.
4-11. Replace BCU Fuse.
WARNING
Ensure that the BCU is not connected to AC power before opening the BCU
cover.
CAUTION
Use extreme care when opening the BCU cover to ensure interior wires are
not pulled or stretched.
Use extreme care when closing the BCU cover to ensure interior wires are
not pinched under the cover's edges.
