3-32. Transfer Between Land Vehicles.
CAUTION
When transferring the IPADS from vehicle to vehicle or to a helicopter with the
W114 cable still connected to the CDU, place the CDU back in the CDU holder
inside the IPADS frame.
NOTE
Ensure BCU BATTERY GOOD and BATTERY TEMP indicators are
illuminated prior to transferring an operating IPADS between vehicles.
Transfer system to the second vehicle's power quickly to minimize discharge of
batteries.
Initiate a ZUPT whenever the system is stationary.

If the IPADS will be transferred to a vehicle that already has a full vehicle installation kit (base plate, CDU
mount, plumb bob bracket or arm, and W116-1 power cable) installed, remove IPADS as follows:
(1) Position vehicles for easy transfer of IPADS and clear canvas and remove support and personal gear,
as needed to provide uncluttered access.
(2) If connected, disconnect FOS data cable W136 P1 from CDU J2 and place caps on CDU and cable
connectors.
(3) Place the CDU in the CDU carrier on the IPADS frame keeping the CDU switch in the ON position
and the W114 cable connected.
(4) Keep both BCU power switches (DC INPUT and OUTPUT) in the ON position.
(5) If installed, remove two T-handles securing two clamping brackets to second (gaining) vehicle's floor
plate.
(6) Remove two T-handles securing two clamping brackets to first vehicle's floor plate.
(7) Move IPADS frame assembly a few inches to disengage pins in alignment bracket assembly.
(8) When ready to transfer, turn the BCU INPUT power switch to OFF (IPADS should remain
operational, running on internal IPADS batteries; all BCU LEDs will be extinguished).
(9) Disconnect W116-1 from the BCU.
(10) Using a four-man lift, remove the IPADS assembly from first vehicle and place it on the base plate in
the second vehicle.
(11) Connect W116-1 to the BCU.
(12) Turn the BCU INPUT power switch to ON.
(13) Slide IPADS frame assembly to engage pins on alignment bracket assembly, figure 2-8 (HMMWV) or
figure 2-52 (SUSV).
(14) Adjust alignment pins as necessary, paragraph 2.8.e.
(15) Secure IPADS frame to floor plate using two T-handles and two clamping brackets, figure 2-10
(HMMWV) or figure 2-53 (SUSV).
(16) Remove the CDU from the CDU carrier on the IPADS frame and attach it to bracket assembly by
aligning two pins located on CDU plate with CDU and secure using two locking latches on CDU plate,
(17) If vehicle types are different, change vehicle type on the CDU, paragraph 3-11b.
(18) Reattach T-handles and clamping brackets to first vehicle's floor plate after IPADS has been moved.
