2-4. IPADS Batteries Continued

Install IPADS battery packs as follows:
CAUTION
Do not pinch battery cable or receptacle wires between cover and chassis,
(1) Turn DC INPUT and OUTPUT switches on the BCU cover to OFF position and remove external
power, AC or DC, from BCU.
(2) With cover open and heater assembly removed, install battery packs into cavity, figure 2-4.
(3) Install heater assembly over battery packs and tighten four screws, figure 2-3.
(4) Connect battery pack connector to one of the unit's battery receptacles, figure 2-4.
(5) Verify battery connector is locked to the receptacle.
(6) Connect second battery similar to BCU heater removal, paragraph 2-4c and d.
(7) Latch BCU cover, figure 2-2.
(8) Charge new batteries for a minimum of 24 hours.
2-5. Packing IPADS.
CAUTION
Remove batteries from BCU before packaging IPADS for shipping or
storage beyond 90 days.
Do not store battery packs in a discharged state or in a hot place. Permanent
loss of capacity might occur if battery packs are placed in storage for an
extended period of time (greater than 3 months) without charging.
To prevent damage, an IPADS must be placed in a transit case when
shipped or stored.
