Function
STLTH
Stealth mode. CDU display intensity, keyboard illumination, and audible alarm volume
are reduced to minimize detection in the dark.
SUSPND
Suspend mode not used for IPADS.
OFF
Turns only CDU off. Does not control power of other IPADS components.
Keyboard
Provides data and control function entry, figure 3-3.
Display
Liquid crystal video display (LCD).
Power
Green light emitting diode (LED) indicator.
Indicator
Steady on
CDU is operating with power from the BCU.
Flashing
CDU is warming up at low temperatures. CDU is operational when indicator stops
flashing.
Off
CDU is not receiving power from BCU or the CDU power switch is in the OFF
position.
Audible Alarm
Provides audible alert that a critical operation is required or completed.
Connector J1
Connects to wiring harness W-114 to connect CDU to BCU.
Connector J2
Connects to FOS data cable W-136 and reprogramming cable W-143.
NOTE
IPADS displays all alphabetic characters in uppercase.

Temperatures below 32 F may require a warm up period before the
CDU is operational.
(1) The CDU keyboard layout is shown in figure 3-3 and is more compact than a standard office
QWERTY keyboard. Some keys are not located in the same place as on a normal office keyboard.
Some keys have added functions that are indicated by a yellow legend at the top of the key. FNC must
be pressed simultaneously with these keys to access the additional function. The unique keys used
with IPADS are described in table 3-1.
