Install IPADS.
WARNING
If the helicopter rotors are turning, canvas and top bows must be securely
tied down in the vehicle.
(1) Remove IPADS UH-60 power cable W116-2 cable and 8 cable ties (found inside the IPADS toolkit
pouch) from storage compartment and connect P2 to helicopter receptacle plug J258, figure 2-26.
Store and re-secure IPADS tool kit when complete.
(2) Use 6 cable ties to secure power cable W116-2 to the railing of the seat next to where IPADS will be
placed, figure 2-31, and the other two cable ties to secure the excess cargo strap when securing the
IPADS in the UH-60, paragraph 2-9e(9).
(3) Using four persons, transfer IPADS frame assembly to the helicopter.
(4) Adjust location of IPADS frame assembly until positioned approximately as illustrated in figure 2-28.
The plumb bob arm must swing clear of the fuselage.
(5) Connect IPADS UH-60 power cable P1 to BCU DC input power connector.
(6) IPADS operator will request crew chief to turn on Utility RECP 7.5 AMP circuit breaker. Turn BCU
INPUT power switch to ON. BCU external DC power indicator should illuminate.
NOTE
When the IPADS is mounted in the helicopter, the vehicle type must be changed
to UH-60 (paragraph 3-11b) if IPADS has been transferred from another
vehicle. This can be accomplished before or after transferring the IPADS to the
helicopter.
