(5) To turn AUDIBLE ALARM on or off, press F1 for ON or F2 for OFF. AUDIBLE ALARM field
reflects the selection; cursor box will move to AZIMUTH TYPE field, function key line shows
F1-GRID, F2-TRUE, and F9-MENU.
(6) Press F9 to return to MENU when display options are set.

Grid Zone
GRID ZONE is displayed on MENU only when display position format is UTM and current IPADS
position is within 40 kilometers of a UTM grid zone boundary. When operating within 40 kilometers of a
UTM grid zone boundary, UTM coordinates can be displayed with respect to the normal grid zone or the
extended zones east or west of the boundary. EXT after the zone number indicates UTM coordinates are
relative to extended east or west zone. Perform the following steps to change grid zone reference:
NOTE
When position is marked in a grid zone overlap area, it is stored in the database
for the displayed grid zone. The grid zone cannot be changed when the data is
recalled from the database. Therefore, the desired grid zone should be set
before performing a mark in a grid zone overlap area.
(1) Scroll to GRID ZONE on MENU and press ENTER. ZONE FUNCTION page is displayed with
instruction PRESS F1 FOR NORMAL; F2 FOR WEST GZ (xx), F3 FOR EAST GZ (yy), where xx is
the extended west zone number and yy is the extended east zone number. Function key line shows
F1-NORMAL, F2-WEST GZ, F3 EAST GZ, and F9-EXIT.

(2) Press F1 to select display of UTM coordinates for the normal grid zone. The display will return to
MENU and IPADS will automatically switch to the normal grid zone when a grid zone boundary is
crossed.
(3) Press F2 to select display of UTM coordinates for the western grid zone while IPADS is within the
zone overlap area. The display will return to MENU.
(4) Press F3 to select display of UTM coordinates for the eastern grid zone while IPADS is within the
zone overlap area. The display will return to MENU.
(5) Press F9 to return to MENU without changing the zone selection.
