Make sure adapter is firmly attached.
N O T E
Maneuver the auxiliary tripod to posi-
tion the point of the plumb bob over the
f i x e d r e f e r e n c e p o i n t . V e r i f y t h a t t he
p l u m b b o b e x t e n s i o n h o o k d o e s n o t
touch the sides of the bridge screw. if
necessary, adjust the telescoping legs
of the tripod to obtain level condition.
h. Rotate the theodolite alidade (1) to position
t h e o b j e c t i v e e n d o f t h e t e l e s c o p e ( 2 ) o v e r t he
NORTH mark on the GRU (3) and tighten horizon-
tal lock.
i. Preorient the GRU (3) to north by releasing
t h e t r i p o d h o l d - d o w n c l a m p s ( 4 ) a n d r o t a t e t he
GRU (3) in the tripod (5) until the two magnetic
c o m p a s s n e e d l e i m a g e s a r e i n c o i n c i d e n c e . W i th
the telescope (2) level, depress the plunger (6) on
the magnetic compass (7).
j . C h e c k t o e n s u r e t h a t p l u m b i n g p o i n t e r is
still over the fixed reference point. Tighten each
of the three holddown clamps (4) on the tripod (5).
