2-8. Install IPADS in High-Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) Continued
i.
Install NATO Plug.
Obtain IPADS power cable, figure 1-6 item 10, and NATO connector, figure 2-17, from installation kit.
Using an adjustable wrench and flat-tip or cross-tip screwdriver, install two lugs of power cable to the
connector.
(1) Remove back of connector and terminal bolts.
(2) Install red-banded lug (wire marked positive) of power cable to positive terminal of connector (center
post).
(3) Install black-banded lug (wire marked negative) of power cable to negative terminal of connector.
(4) Tighten hardware to secure lugs.
(5) Replace back of connector and tighten all screws.
(6) Plug NATO plug into NATO receptacle under right passenger seat of HMMWV.
(7) Attach W116-1 connector P1 to IPADS BCU DC input connector, figure 2-16.

Install Control and Display Unit (CDU).
(1) Install CDU mount assembly onto CDU indexer, figure 2-18.
(2) Tighten socket head cap screw until indexer and linkage assembly make contact on both sides. Once
reached, loosen nut approximately one turn or until indexer and linkage assembly rotate without
binding.
(3) Install CDU mount assembly onto CDU support arm and secure with quick release pin, figure 2-19.
(4) Remove CDU from storage compartment in IPADS frame, figure 1-4 (item 4). Connect W114
connector P1 to J1 connector on CDU, figure 3-2.
