PREPARATION FOR USE. (Cont'd)
i.
Installing boot. (Cont'd)
NOTE
Ladder must be positioned so that steps are level. If ladder is reversed, steps are incorrectly positioned,
and bottom of ladder does not properly contact ground.
When boot is properly positioned, boot support cross bar fits into sewn pockets in corners of boot, and
ladder rests on a rectangular section of canvas.
(22)
Check boot for even overlap and good fit on shelter corners. Tighten roadside ring buckle.
(23)
Soldier on roof can now exit shelter.
(24)
Temporarily remove ladder.
CAUTION
Ensure that boot does NOT get caught underneath HMMWV tires while HMMWV is backing up. Failure
to do so may result in damage to the boot.
(25)
Back HMMWV to a position where rear of shelter is approximately six feet from tent. Shelter is parallel
with the tent.
