(8) The carriage stepping motor carries a double-grooved motor drive pulley.
Around this is wrapped the tensioned carriage drive cable. When the motor is
stepped, horizontal movement is accomplished as the cable winds and unwinds from the
drive pulley. Idler pulleys transmit this to the carriage stepping assembly, which
is stepped along the wayrods. Correct tension of the drive cable is given by
compressing the rubber pad.
