6. HOW TO LOCATE REPAIR PARTS.
a .
When National Stock Number or Part Number is NOT Known.
( 1 ) F i r s t.
U s i n g t h e t a b l e o f c o n t e n t s, determine the assembly group
or subassembly group to which the item belongs. This is necessary
since figures are prepared for assembly groups and subassembly groups,
a n d l i s t i n g s a r e d i v i d e d i n t o t h e s a m e g r o u p s.
( 2 ) S e c o n d . F i n d th e f igure covering the assembly group or subassembly
group to which the item belongs.
( 3 ) T h i r d .
Identify the item on the figure and note the item number.
( 4 ) F o u r t h .
R e f e r t o t h e R e p a i r P a r t s L i s t f o r t h e f i g u r e t o f i n d t he
part number for the item number noted on the figure.
( 5 ) F i f t h .
Refer to the Part Number Index to find the NSN, if assigned.
b. When National Stock Number or Part Number is Known:
( 1 ) F i r s t .
Using the Index of National Stock Numbers and Part Numbers,
find the pertinent National Stock Number or Part Number. The NSN
