Compact Position &
Contains the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors and associated
Navigation Unit (CPNU)
electronics necessary to maintain the survey coordinate frame and
measure distance traveled to each coordinate axis. Also contains
porro prism for auto-reflection.

IPADS assembly
Contains the basic electronic components for IPADS, including
CPNU, standby battery power (BCU), control and display unit
(CDU), wiring harness, and storage space for tools, cables, and
helicopter CDU mount.

Battery and Charger Unit
Contains IPADS backup batteries and associated switching and

charging electronics.

Control and Display Unit
Contains computer, keyboard, and graphic display for operator
(CDU)
entry and display of survey data and system commands (CDU).
CDU is mounted outside of IPADS assembly on mounts during
operation.

Interconnects BCU, CDU and CPNU.
