SECTION I
GENERAL INFORMATION
Scope of Manual
This manual is divided into four main sections, Section
I contains descriptive data and specifications
pertaining to the AutoRanger @ IIx Electronic Distance
Measuring (EDM) instrument. Operating controls,
indicators, and connectors are also illustrated and
their functions are described in Section I. Section II
provides instructions for initial inspection and check of
an instrument upon receipt, and instructions for return
of the instrument, if necessary. Section III provides
detailed operating instructions and operating notes.
A brief description of the principles of EDM
measurement and a simplified block diagram of the
instrument are also provided in Section III, Section IV
provides operator maintenance instructions,
Equipment Description
Economic, simple operation, lightweight, and a high
degree of accuracy area few of the features of the
AutoRanger @ Ilx EDM instrument which make it
especially suitable for short- and mid-range surveying
applications. Only a few seconds are required for
distance measurements (dependent upon
atmospheric conditions and number of prisms used),
The instrument is accurate to within * [5 millimeters
(mm) + 5 parts per million (PPM)].
