ASSEMBLY AND PREPARATION FOR USE (CONT)
WARNING
ELECTRICAL HAZARD. Do not allow ground rod to rotate
when removing slide hammer. Section could become
ungrounded, resulting in death or serious injury.
ELECTRICAL HAZARD. Section must be grounded properly
before power is connected. If it is not possible to
drive three sections of ground rod fully into ground,
ground rods may each be driven into ground separately
and connected in series. If it is impossible to
drive a ground rod, a suitable alternative, such as a
buried metal water pipe, must be found. Failure to
ground Section may result in death or serious injury.
5. Place slide hammer (1) on slide hammer rod end (2), and drive
ground rod (3) into ground. Remove slide hammer rod (2). Attach next
section of ground rod to first ground rod. Attach slide hammer rod (2) to
new section of ground rod (3), and repeat procedure until only 1 foot
(0.305 m) of third rod is above ground.
6. Remove slide hammer (1) and slide hammer rod (2). Place in
Section.
7. Using adjustable wrench, mount ground cable clamp (4) and ground
cable (5) to ground rod. Attach ground cable to ground terminal (6) at
power entry panel (7).
WARNING
ELECTRICAL HAZARD. Do not handle or clean power cable
or connectors while power cable is connected to external
power source. Death or serious injury may result.
8. Firmly connect the power cable (8) to the power entry panel (7).
NOTE
Before operating Section, perform before (B) operation
9. Plug power cable into external power source.
